Welcome to Clyst Caring Friends
Due to the coronavirus our services have been suspended until further notice. We have recently been able to open our charity shop again please see bottom of page for our temporary opening times.
Clyst Caring Friends is a local charity based at the Pinhoe and Broadclyst medical practice in Exeter, Devon. We are a voluntary organisation which aims to provide relief for people residing in the areas we cover who are elderly, infirm, disabled, or isolated.
We run a number of support services and social gatherings in the local community. Our website provides an overview of the services and events we offer for the elderly and infirm in Broadclyst and Pinhoe, as well as giving details of volunteering and fundraising opportunities.
For those in need of transport, the Clyst Caring Friends car service can cover journeys to the above facilities. We also help people with mobility problems or those who have trouble using public transport, by taking them to their local medical appointments.
Managed by qualified staff, our purpose built day centre in Broadclyst runs three sessions a week. We also offer a twice weekly assisted bathing facility for those who can no longer manage at home. The Clyst Caring Friends monthly Luncheon Club and our weekly drop-in coffee mornings provide an opportunity for those who are lonely or housebound to meet on a regular basis for a social gathering.
Founded in 1986, Clyst Caring Friends began as a transport service when Dr Walker of the Pinhoe surgery realised there was a need locally to help patients get to and from their surgery appointments. With the help of local patients, Pearl Isaacs and Pauline Mortimore Clyst Caring Friends was born.
Many years have passed since then and Clyst Caring Friends also now provide several other services within the local community.
